Military option cannot resolve the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. Traditional Rulers of the West Region say
2 min readThe Council of Traditional Rulers of the West Region of Cameroon have recently caution the government to quit the use of military in trying to resolve the Anglophone crisis in favor of a genuine dialogue. The traditional rulers regretted the recent happenings in the Regions including continues Killing of traditional rulers, killing of children, kidnappings and gross rights violations rising.
While addressing the issue, the chiefs took the opportunity to call on other traditional rulers from around the country to use local mechanism to contribute toward resolving the ongoing crisis in the English Speaking Regions. The coming together of chiefs from across Cameroon to discuss on possible resolution to the crisis was at the centre of their communique. It is worthy to note that, from the document circulated on social media, seven chiefs from across all divisions in the West Region signed the communique while pleading the other chiefs to join hands together towards resolving the Anglophone crisis
Since 2016, palaces have been burnt, many chiefs, fons have been killed while many are seeking refuge out of their palaces for fear of being killed. The situation is getting worst these days because of the upcoming regional elections which traditional rulers are required to participate. As the separatists fighter, have sent a strong warning to any traditional ruler engaging in any elections in the Regions
