Cameroon: Road accident kills at least 53 persons and injured 29 persons in the West Region
1 min readToday 27 January 2021, a collision between an interurban transport vehicle (70 seaters) and a truck has resulted in at least 53 dead and 29 injured persons. The collision resulted in the outbreak of fire, which burnt some victims beyond recognition. The accident occurred in Dschang, West Region of Cameroon.
Confirmed by the Minister of Transport, investigations have been open to help establish the cause of the accident and take appropriate action. Source also indicates that the truck was transporting illicit fuel and that is was the main cause of the fire.
Since the beginning of 2021in Cameroon, hundreds of civilians have died as a result of a road accident. Reckless driving, poor road conditions, tiredness are some of the factors that may always lead to numerous accidents in the country.
