89 years old woman and her grandson burnt to death in Buea, the Southwest Region of Cameroon.
2 min readIn the early hours of 8 February 2021, 89 years old women by the name Mama Ebot and Maxy her grandson died as a result of a fire incident in Buea. The fire incident occurred as early as 2:00 AM. Since the start of 2021, fire incidents have continued to occur in Cameroon with devastating effects on victims. The source of the fire is reportedly the electric spark as a result of the on and off of electricity
The house in which the incident happened was a “Karabot house” that is a house-made up of plank. It is also reported that there was too much noise coming from snack bars around the area which made neighbors not to hear the victims cry. Mimi Mefo Info report, “the noise from bars around prevented us from getting the sound of the incident early “We realized late when the flames had already engulfed the building”
The Mimi Mefo platform also reported testimony from an eyewitness who said the fire was sparked by an electrical fault, “I saw a big light sparking from the electric meter. I could not enter the house again. It’s later we noticed that Mama and the little boy died there”.
