Anglophone armed conflict in Cameroon: Soldiers torture an unarmed civilian to near death in Ndu, the Northwest Region on the bases that he is a brother to an Ambazonian fighter
2 min readIn a nine (9) minutes thirty five (35) seconds video circulating online, members of the Cameroon State Security and Defense forces have been seen torturing an unarmed Civilian in Ndu Subdivision in Donga Matung of the Northwest Region of Cameroon. In the video, the soldier accused him for being a brother to a separatist fighter and consequently hiding the location of his brother.
The soldiers insisted that he most provide or show the whereabouts of his junior brother who is an Ambazonian fighter. The torture went on until he passes out because of excessive beatings with the machete. The victim continued to accept that his brother is an Ambazonian fighter while insisting that he does not know his whereabouts. The soldiers continuously asked him “where is your brother” the victim continuously reply that, “My brother is in the bushes, I do not know his whereabouts”
While mercilessly kicking and beating him with the cutlass, the victim pleaded in vain that his brother is an Ambazonian fighter but he do not know where he is. He accepted that his brother is a separatist fighter or an Ambazonian fighter in the bush and insisted that he do not know where his brother is staying.
HRLRC cannot independently tell when the gruesome act happened. The state at which the victim was left in the video, HRLRC does not know whether the victim is still alive or not
