UN Resolution Against Child Early and Forced Marriage in Times of Crisis.

Child marriage and forced marriage has continued to skyrocket especially in times of crisis including the COVID-19 pandemic. Often violated by members of armed groups, family members, friends, etc. girls have continued to suffer the consequences of early marriage and forced marriage.
In a bid to remedy the situation, the United Nations General Assembly has on 07 October 2021 adopts a resolution outlining the need to prevent child marriage and forced marriage. The resolution encourages the states to do everything possible to prevent the heinous crime in times of crisis
In conflict situations, as is the case in the Northern Region of Cameroon, the North West and South-West Regions, child marriage and forced marriage has been a call for concern. This has also been increased due to economic insecurities and influence from family members/members of society.

To increase understanding about the concept of forced marriage, to request the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to organize a two-full-day workshop focusing on the adverse impact of forced marriage on the full and effective enjoyment of all human rights by all women and girls, and requests the Office of the High Commissioner to submit a report on the workshop in an accessible format to the Human Rights Council at its fifty-second session.
Before the Council adopted the resolution, it voted on and rejected three amendments: Line.31 and Line 61-62.
