CHRDA narrates How and Why Chief Moja Moja harassed and arrested General No Pity’s Ex-Girlfriend in Buea-Cameroon

A statement released on 13 October 2021 by a Cameroonian based human rights body, the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, headed by Barrister Agbor Balla, one-time leader of the Anglophone Consortium has revealed a shocking ordeal of what transpired during the arrest and subsequent detention of General No Pity’s ex-girlfriend in Buea, the South West Region of Cameroon.

According to the human rights institution, on 2 October 2021, three members of the Rapid Battalion Intervention (BIR) an elite force of the Cameroon military, were seen in an amateur video, making rounds on social media, harassing a pregnant woman and her two children in a locality in Buea known as Sandpit, situated in Buea Sub Division, Fako Division of the Southwest Region.

The Centre reported that the operation was led by the Chief of Bwassa Village in Buea who is also a member of the Cameroon Defense and Security forces called Chief Ewume Eko John popularly known as chief Moja Moja who was briefly recorded on camera, where he could be seen alleging that he has captured the wife of a dreaded armed Separatist fighter, fighting for the restoration of the sovereignty of Southern Cameroons and operates in the Northwest Region known as ‘General’ No Pity. The operation was led by chief Moja Moja and two other masked soldiers.

The arrest which was carried out by Moja Moja and two other masked soldiers molested and kicked her on the stomach, two of her children (already released) were also arrested, a sum of 50,000frs and an unnamed amount got missing in the process while her two phones including the business phones were seized.

The gendarme officers allege that she has been communicating with General No Pity and that he has been sending money to her. The allegations which according to the CHRDA, the woman refused and state that No Pity only gave her 100, 000frs for his son upkeep since they separated.

Previously detained at Legion, Gendarmerie Brigade in Buea and after spending a week there, she has been transferred to Buea Central Prison on awaiting trial.  At the moment, her family has been denied access to her, and the family also alleges that the authorities have said she has been diagnosed with the covid-9 virus. She has no legal representative; while CHRDA  has promised that its legal team has notified the family and will be representing her in legal processes.

According to CHRDA, the 25-year-old mother of two who had an intimate affair with ‘General’ No Pity in 2015 is expecting the third child already in 8 months due. General No Pity who terminated his relation with Antoinette to join the separatist fighters as a result of hardship caused by the banned of motorbikes on July 31, 2018, by the Lord Mayor of Buea, Late Ekema Patrick Esunge has been causing havoc against the military in the North West Region of the country.
