Morocco: 5-year-old boy trapped in a deep well for four days dies after being rescued in Chefchaouen Province
2 min readAccording to CNN, News, a Moroccan boy who had been trapped in a deep well (More than 30 meters on Tuesday 1 February 2022 has died. The unfortunate incident happened in the northern city of Chefchaouen Province. According to, Morocco’s state news agency, the 5-year-old boy #Rayan, stayed four days in the deep well boy before he was retrieved by rescue teams on Saturday 5 February 2022.
Unfortunately, he did not survive his ordeal, state media reported. King Mohammed VI of Morocco offered condolences to Rayan’s family in a phone call, according to a statement from the Royal Palace as reported by CNN “Following the tragic accident that claimed the life of the child Rayan Oram, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, made a phone call to Mr Khaled Oram, and Mrs Wassima Khersheesh, the parents of the deceased who passed away, after falling into a well,”
As reported by Reuters, On Thursday, he took food and water that was dropped down to him using a rope.
According to CNN, Rayan was playing near the deep well, he was later heard crying inside by the mother before she could alert the authorities. the #SaveRayan campaign went viral across North Africa.
