Russia-Ukraine war: President Putin put nuclear forces on special combat readiness.
1 min readOn Sunday 27 February 2022, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin instructed the country’s deterrence forces to be placed on “a special mode of combat duty” in a Sunday meeting with top defence officials.
According to the President, a statement from the Senior officials of leading NATO members was “aggressive statements” against Russia. This statement was said at a meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.
The announcement is coming at the time when the Western countries are imposing economic sanctions while NATO is threatening Russia with military intervention in terms of supplying or aiding Ukraine with military equipment
The United States has condemned his decision, calling it an “unacceptable escalation”. Mr Putin had earlier warned that “whoever tries to hinder us” in Ukraine would see consequences “you have never seen in your history”
