Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon: Lord Mayor makes a statement about the killing of two women by soldiers in the North West Region

The Lord Mayor of Andek Council informs the public that on the 19″ of September 2022 two women, Mrs. Abazie Susan( the bar owner from Andek town) and Mrs. Etoh Basheba( the gatou seller from Akutah) were shot to death at Andek by some reckless military personnel. This action was reckless because the personnel, who were not on any official assignment, acted on their own accord.

This irresponsible, cruel and unacceptable act has come at a moment that the Andek Council has been doing everything for live to return to normalcy in the municipality and for the internally displaced people to return home.

The Senior Divisional officer for Momo, who is the Supervisory Authority for Andek Council, has been informed appropriately. The SDO appeals to the population to remain calm as investigations have been opened to bring the culprits to book so that the appropriate sanctions shall be applied on them for this terrible act.

The Lord Mayor here further appeals to the population to remain calm and vigilant. And that this killing should not discourage other people from going about with their normal businesses in Andek, especially as the SDO has promised to step up disciplinary measures amongst the forces of defense and security detached to Andek.

The Mayor extends his heartfelt personal messages of condolences and that of the population of the entire municipality to the bereaved families. The council has taken its responsibility to give the deceased decent burials.

In solidarity with the bereaved families, the Peace and Unity Cup Finals initially programed for Saturday 24″ Sept. 2022 in Andek has been postponed to a date to be announced.
