The General Manager of the Cameroon Development Corporation (COC) officially announced the death of 5 workers in a horrific attack in Tiko, the South West Region of Cameroon.

The General Manager of the Cameroon Development Corporation (COC) hereby informs the general public that on Friday 10th February 2023 at about 5.30 pm, unidentified gunmen attacked a personnel carrier transporting workers of the Banana Group who were returning from work. The incident took place on the stretch of road off the Tiko-Douala road to the Mondoni Oil Mill.
Five workers were killed, four males and one female. As at 3 pm today 11 February 2023, forty-four workers are receiving treatment at the Tiko Cottage Hospital for various injuries while one severe case has been referred to another health facility for specialist attention.
The motive for the attack is unknown. Investigations by the competent authorities of the state to uncover the identity of the assailants are ongoing.
The General Manager extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and sympathy to the injured workers. He appeals to the entire workforce of the Corporation to stay calm, focused and vigilant.
