CHRDA and partners celebrates African Day, Calls for unity and increase in advocacy for a borderless Africa
2 min readUnder the theme “Accelerating the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to Bring Greater Prosperity to the Continent”, the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa has organized an event to drill participants on the importance of unity and a borderless Africa. The discussions were centered around the theme which focuses around free trade agreement. They organized this event in partnership with CREED and CHRRASDA organized a session to educate and advocate for the need of Africans to cultivate Pan-African values, restoring to their deep ancestral roots and African cultures as a way to foster Development.
This year’s commemoration marks the 60th anniversary of the African day, commemorated by the African Union and other Pan African organizations and institutions all over Africa and the world.
This day according to CHRDA, is use and opportunity to advocate and educate the population on the historical importance of Africa and to enourage stakeholders ratify agreements such as the AFCFTA.
‘While advocating for the implementation and facilitation of a borderless Africa, it is important to empower groups of persons affected by conflict and wars, gender based violence survivors, physically disabled persons and all other vulnerable groups and individuals, to enjoy the benefits of this new and emerging Africa which we aspire to strive in unity, solidarity, peace and economic growth and development. In peruse for the Africa we want, it comes at a cost which Africans have to rise above all adversity is attaining the goal of a botherless Africa, not just for trade, but for the movement of people, ideas and technology. Furthermore, in the spirit of living together, Africans need to tolerate and accommodate one another, in times of conflict and insecurity.‘ CHRDA
