Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon: Authorities in Ndu Subdivision Create a commission of inquiry to investigate killings, robberies and kidnappings
1 min readIn response to a sit-down protest by women of Ndu Municipality of the Northwest Region of Cameroon to demand for appropriate investigations of the killings allegedly perpetrated by armed Mbororo Militias, Mr. Adamu Shuaibu Ibrahim The Divisional officer of Ndu Subdivision-Northwest Region of Cameroon has created a commission of inquiry to investigate the cases of killings, armed robbery and kidnapping in the villages of SOP AND Nseh Makop Villages.
Since the beginning of the Anglophone armed conflict, human rights organizations have reported rise in the conflict between Mbororo community members and natives in several localities in the Northwest Region including Ndu, Ngwa, Wum etc. Recently, the armed Mbororo militias have been accused by the local population of killing and kidnappings. on 1 October 2024, the villages accused the the militias for killing husband and wife.
In a communique sign on 10 October 2024, the Divisional Officer declared that a commission of inquiry has been created to investigate cases of killings, kidnapping and robberies from 1st June 2018 to 1 October 2024 in the above mentioned villages. The commission of inquiry as created by the divisional officer includes as follows
