Anglophone crisis Cameroon: Deputy Mayor killed in Bamenda, Human Rights Organization condemns the killing in strong terms
1 min readAfter returning from the screening of the Documentary about the legacy of the president of Cameroon, H.E President Paul Biya on the 26 of October 2024, Mrs. Joko Frida was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
She was kidnapped from her residence in Savana Street, Old Town-Bamenda at about 4:30 pm. She was later discovered brutally murdered on 28 October 2024. It is worth noting that, since the beginning of the Anglophone Crisis, at least 6000 people have been killed.
The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Division, Mr Simon Emile in a released communique confirmed the murder of the deputy mayor and promised severe punishment for the perpetrators. Human Rights Organizations like the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa have condemned in strong terms the targeting of civilians. while suggesting that the act was committed by alleged separatist fighters, CHRDA frowns at the fact that the deputy mayor was unarmed and should not have been targeted.
