Bright Light Projects Celebrates International Day of Forests by Officially Launching its “Reforestation Hope Project” on March 21, 2025, in Bombali District-Sierra Leone

Bright Light Projects Sierra Leone (BLPSL), in collaboration with Save Life Initiative (SLI), officially launched its flagship program, called “Reforestation Hope,” A Collaborative Initiative for Sustainable Landscapes in Bamenda, Cameroon, and Makeni, Sierra Leone, as part of the commemorations of the International Day of Forests on March 21, 2025.


The event took place at the Pate-Bana Masimbo in the Matak Community. The event brought together stakeholders, community members, and representatives from various organisations to raise awareness about the importance of forests and the need for environmental conservation under this year’s theme, “Forests and Food”

Mr. Samuel Alpha Thoronka, Coordinator of BLPSL. In his address, he highlighted the significance of the International Day of Forests and emphasized the critical role forests play in supporting life, combating climate change, and preserving biodiversity. He called for joint efforts in protecting forest resources and encouraged all present to take active steps toward sustainable environmental practices.

The event was well-attended by several personalities, community representatives, and partners from different organizations. Among the key line ministries in attendance were representatives from the Ministry of Environment, attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forestry, and Security, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) media, and the Youth Initiative Actions for Sustainable Development (SL YASDSL). Each representative was given the platform to contribute and participate in the celebration. They expressed their gratitude to BLPSL for organizing the event and recognized the importance of such initiatives. The various partners also extended their hope for continued collaboration and joint efforts in future environmental activities.

Community leaders and members were actively engaged throughout the event, demonstrating their interest and commitment to preserving their natural environment. Their involvement added great value to the occasion and reinforced the importance of grassroots participation in environmental protection.
The celebration of the International Day of Forests 2025 was a great success, fostering unity, awareness, and a shared commitment to forest conservation. Bright Light Projects Sierra Leone and Save Life Initiatives express sincere appreciation to all participants and look forward to more impactful collaborations in the future.
