Cameroon and Tunisia Abolish Visa Requirements for Diplomatic and Service Passport Holders

In a significant diplomatic development, Cameroon has officially ratified an agreement with the Tunisian Republic to abolish visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special, or service passports. This move is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and facilitating smoother diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Mindful of Law No. 2025/005 of 25 April 2025 to authorize the President of the Republic to ratify the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cameroon and the Government of the Tunisian Republic, on the reciprocal abolition of visa requirements for holders April of diplomatic, special or service passports, signed in Yaoundé on 27 2024,

This agreement, originally signed in Yaoundé on April 27, 2024, was formally ratified by a presidential decree signed by President Paul Biya on 2 May 2025. DECREE No. 2025/177 OF 02 MAY 2025 to ratify the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cameroon and the Government of the Tunisian Republic, on the reciprocal abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special or service passports, signed in Yaounde on 27 April 2024 is coming to further call for a visa free Africa. With this decree, qualified officials from both countries can now travel between Cameroon and Tunisia without the need for a visa, marking a step forward in diplomatic cooperation and mutual trust.

This agreement is expected to foster closer political, economic, and cultural ties, while simplifying official missions and encouraging high-level exchanges. It reflects a broader trend across Africa of enhancing regional cooperation and mobility for government representatives.
