As Cameroon edges closer to its pivotal 2025 presidential elections, one voice is rising above the noise with a clear call for transformation, and he is called Barrister Akere Tabeng Muna, a renowned international lawyer and long-time anti-corruption advocate, has emerged as a beacon of hope for a nation yearning for change.

In a stirring National Day message delivered on May 20, Muna declared that, “This October, we face not just another election, but a historic crossroads for our nation.” His address echoed the frustration of millions who have endured decades of political stagnation, economic hardship, and systemic corruption under a deeply entrenched regime led by a 92-year-old incumbent President.

Muna’s message did not shy away from addressing the deep cracks in Cameroon’s foundations. He pointed to failing infrastructure, poor healthcare access, youth unemployment, and the mass exodus of skilled citizens as evidence of a broken system. This was a candid assessment of the status quo “The cycle of empty promises must end,” he said, calling for urgent action rather than complacency.

In his address, his interest for Unity and Justice for Cameroonians was more more realistic. Touching on Cameroon’s ethnic and regional divides, Muna asked a piercing question: “Unity for whom?” His response was clear—unity must be built on inclusion, justice, and equal opportunity. His campaign is rooted in bridging the divides that have long marginalized communities and fostering a sense of belonging for all citizens.

Muna outlined his vision for a government that puts citizens first by prioritising people over power. With a powerful sloga “Schools before palaces, teachers before bodyguards”, he reaffirmed his commitment to education, transparency, and accountability. “I seek not to rule, but to serve. Not to take power, but to return it where it belongs…to you, the people,” he affirmed.

With elections on the horizon, Muna is mobilizing Cameroonians to actively shape their future. His three-point action plan urges citizens to:

  1. Register to vote
  2. Mobilize their communities
  3. Demand accountability from leaders

His vision for economic reform includes job creation and industrial growth, ensuring that by 2026, “we celebrate new factories instead of unemployment lines.”

As the former Battonier of the Cameroon Bar Association, Muna brings both experience and credibility. His platform is grounded in integrity and service.

In closing, Muna’s message is one of resilience, empowerment, and hope:
“The time for waiting is over. The time for action is now.” With these words, he calls for a peaceful revolution at the ballot box, one vote at a time.
