Professional Ethics and Skills of Legal Practice in Cameroon: A Practitioner’s Narrative by Barrister Derek Invo Buo

In a pivotal contribution to Cameroon’s legal literature, Professional Ethics and Skills of Legal Practice in Cameroon – A Practitioner’s Narrative, authored by Barrister Derek Invo Buo (LLM), emerges as a must-read for legal professionals, scholars, and trainers. This publication, edited by Etta Bessong Jr. with a foreword by Barrister Akere T. Muna, sets a solid foundation for ethical reflection, skill mastery, and professional development in the advocacy space.

Rooted in the understanding that ethics form the bedrock of professional conduct, the book opens with an exploration into legal ethics, a critical branch of professional ethics. It reminds us that ethics, just like metaphysics or logic, is a pillar of philosophy, defining not only the moral nature of choices but also the relational dynamics among professionals. Whether in law, medicine, education, or engineering, professional ethics govern how individuals apply their expertise with integrity and discipline.
