Her Innovation Cameroon (HIC) provides aid to an Orphanage in Buea

As the world is facing multiple crises, including armed conflicts, climate change, pandemics and the vulnerable persons have continued to suffer the consequences due to the diversion of attention. Her Innovation Cameroon(HIC) has been contributing towards protecting the rights of vulnerable persons including orphans in one way or the other. HIC focuses on improving the rights of vulnerable persons especially girls through empowerment in STEM.

On 10 October 2021, HIC visits St. Glory Orphanage in Buea, the South West Region of Cameroon. According to Mrs Futih Laura, the president of  HIC, the purpose of the visit was to donate some food and non-food materials to the orphans and encourage them to gain and sustain healthy self-esteem in whatever they are doing in the orphanage.  This visit to the orphanage was also aimed at commemorating the International of the Girl Child commemorated annually on 11 October.

The management of the orphanage welcomed the support from HIC while expressing satisfaction to how they have been supported in one way or the other.

While talking to the children in the orphanage, the HIC team made known to them that the greatest power of change is within themselves and to unlock these powers, education, good self-esteem and confidence is the key.

HIC’s President in her address made it known to the orphans the greatest powers of change rest within themselves and to unlock these powers good self-esteem and confidence accompanied with education is the key.

According to the HIC president, they could have loved to contribute more than just given food and nonfood support, however, she pledged the loyalty of HIC to support and do more for the orphanage.

Among the items donated, was lunch, rice, oil and other items. The management of the orphanage expressed gratitude at the end of the visit and states some difficulties they are facing with the children. According to the orphanage management, there are limited resources to accommodate the children efficiently.
