Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon. British High Commission calls on Government and Separatists to facilitate access to education

1 min read

Following an attack in Buea by armed separatists in Buea, the South West Region of Cameroon on 12 January 2022, serious violations of human rights abuses were recorded. Among these violations was the abuse committed against the students of GHS Bokova-Buea, the South West Region of Cameroon.

The students were naked and molested by the armed separatists while on their way to/from school. The incident was recorded and shared online. The reason behind the act was linked to the separatist call for a ghost town in other to enforce the boycott of AFCON.

While taking into consideration the unfortunate incident, the British High Commission on their Twitter page said ‘Every child has the right to #education . The violent and the degrading acts yesterday at GHS #Bokova in #Buea SW #Cameroon are contrary to this human right. We are appalled. We call on all sides to work to support access to #schools. @UnescoYaounde@FCDOHumanRights
