#defyhatenow Cameroon is looking for an experienced, passionate, and creative graphic designer for a part-time (15 hours/week) freelance position

You will be responsible for creating graphics that capture the attention of those who see them and communicate the right message. This requires a creative flair and a strong ability to translate requirements into design. If you can communicate well and work methodically as part of a team, we’d like to hear from you.

You’ll influence the #defyhatenow Cameroon’s contextual visual elements by adhering to already-existing design conventions and developing fresh ones that are compelling and have an impact on society.

As a creative designer for a nonprofit, you need to be interested in international affairs, social and tech activism, conflict mitigation, and peace efforts, and be excited to learn more about these things. Additionally, you should be up-to-date with the latest digital technologies. You should have excellent communication skills and pro-active engagement, possess native-level English and/or French skills, and thrive in situations requiring creativity and precision. 

Your responsibilities will require you to;

  • Understand and execute the #defyhatenow style guide for artwork and concept campaigns, goals for the desired deliverables
  • Develop design concepts for online and offline events, and campaigns
  • Study design briefs, determine requirements and conceptualise visuals based on those  requirements 
  • Working on layouts and the overall presentation of a campaign and presenting drafts
  • Thinking creatively to generate visuals that connect with multiple audiences
  • Designing both promotional and educational materials, such as brochures and infographics.
  • Collaborating closely with the team to develop creative designs with the necessary elements
  • Developing a digital presence and visual assets, developing promotional images for events, posting on websites and social media, and designing printed materials. 
  • Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand

We require you to have the following; 

  • Proven graphic designing experience of at least 3 years experience
  • A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
  • Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop… )
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details
  • Desktop publishing skills to send proper files to printer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
  • A degree in Design, Fine Arts or a related field is an added advantage
