Music brings together people and it has continuously and successfully been seen to be a forefront tool for peace and unity in our communities. Music connects and makes people have positive feelings towards others even when they live in faraway. It also builds bridges to connect people in the already culturally diversified world.
Bright Light Projects believes that connecting the Cameroonian community from different regions, especially those from the conflict-affected regions of the North West and South West living in the United States of America through music will contribute to healing their souls. The diaspora Cameroonians have continued to face Psychological trauma because of the living conditions of their loved ones who are leaving in horrible conditions back home and sometimes in areas where there is no network to even communicate with them.
In the North West and South West regions, wherein an armed conflict has been ongoing for more than five years, thousands of persons, especially women and children have been internally displaced and thousands living in other countries as refugees and asylum seekers, especially in the United States of America. Therefore, providing a unique platform for connecting and healing the USA diaspora community from the North and Southwest regions of Cameroon who have undergone emotional and psychological trauma now for over five years is a call for concern. According to the CEO of Bright Light Projects, Mr Bonghan Franco, ‘Music is at the heart of every individual and nation, music heals, connects people and can be used build love among individuals and nations.’
To better communicate the message of peace and also to connect the diaspora with the suffering population back in Cameroon, Bright Light Projects have invited Mr Leo to perform in a solo Mega Cultural Charity Tour. Mr Fonyuy Leonard Nsohburinka, popularly known in his artistic name as Mr Leo is a living experience of what is going on in the North West and South West Regions. He is from Kumbo, in the northwest region where the hostilities and killings have been taking place and is the most hard-hit area of the armed conflict. The people of Kumbo have been highly isolated as a result of the armed conflict, most at times with no electricity, network, bad roads, limited or no schools ongoing, limited supply of health facilities and so on.
Mr. Leo is cultural music Icon of the Tikari grasslands of Cameroon with unique perspective and stands to invoke, inspire and provide peace, dialogue and understanding during the Bright Light Project Mega Cultural Charity Tour to Cameroonian Diaspora Community Unites States of America. As reiterated by the Bright Light Projects, performances are all solo events for MR LEO ONLY giving him an opportunity to connect with the diaspora grass field community in the United States of America.
About the Charity Concert Tour:
The 2023 USA Mega Cultural Charity Concert Tour organized by Bright Light Projects will provide a unique platform for connecting and healing the USA diaspora community from the North and Southwest regions of Cameroon who have undergone emotional and psychological trauma now for over five years with the looming of the Anglophone crisis since 2016. As the crisis in the Anglophone regions continued for the fifth year, over 4000 people have been killed, over 712,000 people are internally displaced, More than 80k refugees mostly women and children are found in Nigeria, and over 350 villages raided and partially or severely burnt.
Why You Need to Register for this Charity Tour
As a result of the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions, the economic conditions have been hard, especially among youths. There has been an increase in violence against women and girls, insecurity, domestic violence, child soldiering and so on. This is partly been because education has continued to be under attack, and the farms-to-market roads and companies have been in a standstill.
To contribute towards curbing the effects of this armed conflict, Bright Light Projects have been empowering youths, most especially girls and women on vocational skills in Cameroon. They have also been contributing by sponsoring children to attend formal education, most especially girls. While speaking to Berinyuy Cajetan, the publisher of HRLRC, Mr Bonghan who doubles as the CEO of Bright Light Projects said, ‘The target for our sustainable humanitarian response has been vulnerable youths and most especially internally displaced girls in Bamenda, Buea and Litoral Region.’
While this charity tour is to connect with the Diaspora community, the tour will also help generate funds to assist vulnerable youths and most especially girls who are internally displaced as a result of the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions with sustainable skills.
