Globe Watch Foundation (GWF), strengthens the capacity of Civil Society Actors in Yaoundé, the Centre Region of Cameroon.

The Globe watch foundation (GWF) , a civil society organization with its head office in Yaoundé, the Centre Region of Cameroon on 26 August 2023 organized a capacity building workshop in Yaoundé under the theme “Advocacy within the Rule of Law” ( Evidence based advocacy) .

Speaking to its founder and Executive Director, Mr Lukong Usheno, he told HRLRC that the program, supported by the World Alliance for Citizen participation ( CIVICUS) and Funded by the Lifeline Embattled CSO Fund was aimed at strengthening Freedoms of Association, Expression and Assembly of Civil Society Organizations and rights defenders within the Rule of Law.

Among the participants were civil society actors drawn from grassroot organizations and social movements for the training which was focus on advocacy and most especially how to use digital tools to carry out advocacy campaigns on freedom of Association, Expression and Assembly within the Rule of law. Participants were engaged on the current constitutional and legal framework on freedom of Association, Expression and Assembly in Cameroon.
The legal practitioner and facilitator, Mr Teboh Derrick, dwelled on Human Rights monitoring, documentation and Reporting as part of the advocacy strategies which could be naming and shaming perpetrators and recommending amendments to laws to be human rights friendly . He also cautioned participants to avoid all forms of disinformation and misinformation while using evidence base Advocacy as a legal means to successful advocacy.
The forum also provided a platform for CSO members to share their unique experiences, best practices and ideas that are geared towards strengthening Advocacy Within the Rule of law . participants were cautioned on strengthening Freedom of Association, Expression and Assembly within the framework of the Law.
The CEO of the Globe watch foundation, Mr.Lukong Usheno Kiven also emphasize on Evidence based advocacy while urging civil societies actors to use the current constitutional and legal dispensation to accelerate Freedoms of Association, Expression and assembly. He also emphasized on importance of solidarity, partnership, Networking and continuous capacity building efforts for sustainable promotion and protection of Human Rights.
