Issa Tchiroma’s 2026 New Year Speech, Cameroon’s President Elect
My Fellow Cameroonians,
My very dear compatriots,
As we begin this new year, I wish to express my profound gratitude to you for your trust and for the considerable efforts you made in 2025 to help build change.
The plan that carries the vision and the societal project of tomorrow’s Cameroon is indeed underway, and it is moving forward thanks to quiet, rigorous, and tireless work.
Please be assured that I remain firmly committed to my mission, which is to serve the Cameroonian people.
Your trust will never be betrayed.
Your voice, expressed unanimously, will never be silenced.
God’s time is not the same as human time. But we, a people of faith, know and feel that the hour is approaching.
Together, we will show the entire world that nothing can stop a united, supportive, and determined people whose only demands are justice and peace.
I pay special tribute to my spokesperson, with whom I am in daily contact. Better than anyone, she embodies the values of courage and resilience—essential foundations of the change we aspire to. I renew here my full confidence in her and encourage her to continue her work with resolve.
She will soon share a message on my behalf.
My dear compatriots,
And more particularly to you, the youth;
to you, the women;
to you, our diaspora;
to you our lawyers, and the entire bar;
to you, our Anglophone brothers and sisters;
to you, our farmers;
to you, our transport workers;
to all of you, Cameroonian women and men, who remain dignified and standing in anticipation of a new day
—from Pitoa to Campo, from Bertoua to Idabato, from Kousseri to Foumbot, from Tibati to Kumbo, from Mbankomo to Bomono, from Douala to Yaoundé—
I extend my best wishes to you.
Do not doubt for a single moment: I will be among you very soon.
May the Eternal bless you, provide for your needs, and accompany you in the fulfillment of your dreams.
May the year 2026 finally mark the beginning of a new era and bring you health, justice, and prosperity.
