The President of the United States, Joe Biden  has threatened African countries violating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights with heavy sanctions

Efforts by the United States of America to encourage the respect of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Rights has increase under the new administration of Joe Biden. However, as the United States is fighting for the respect of LGBT rights, that is how the African countries are strengthening and enforcing its laws against LGBT rights. Joe Biden. The recent Memorandum, which aims to protect LGBT rights globally, is part of Joe Biden first 100 days target in the office. In the Memorandum, he said, “To further repair our moral leadership, I’m also issuing a presidential memo to agencies to reinvigorate our leadership on the LGBTQI issues and do it internationally,”

Officials of African countries excluding South Africa risked sanctions by the United States if they do not refrain from violating LGBT rights. Mostly International Rights groups globally have applauded the recent move by the President of United States to encouraged countries with harsh laws against Gay rights to amend the laws that includes all persons.

Officials of countries with harsh laws against Gays may be financially sanctioned by the United States according to the Memorandum from the White the White House. It is worthy to note that the president promised to make LGBT rights a top priority and to pass LGBT rights legislation known as the “Equality Act” within his 100 days in the office. However, he has already issued an executive order extending the already existing Nondiscrimination Protections to LGBT Persons.

 

The question is, are LGBT rights Human Rights?
