Background: LUKMEF is a registered NGO working in Cameroon since 1999 focusing principally on three key pillars (1) Peace Building & Non-violence (2) Social Justice & Human Rights (3) Sustainable Development. LUKMEF principal theory of change is that when individuals, institutions, and whole communities are empowered and supported to take leadership in addressing their own social, economic, political, and environmental challenges, they can drive themselves out of poverty in a dignified and sustainable manner. While our programs target primarily women and youths, we so understanding that using a community-based approach that addresses the larger needs of whole communities will greatly impact positively on the lives of our primary beneficiaries in a sustainable way.
Since 1999, LUKMEF programs have covered six of the ten regions of Cameroon. In response to the socio-political crisis in the two English regions, our work has now focused on humanitarian response in the areas of food security, livelihood, WASH, Health, GBV, Education, and Child Protection. We have provided humanitarian assistance to over 300,000 IDPs and host communities in the North West, South West, Littoral, and the West regions since the start of the crisis.
