Position: COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Her Innovation Cameroon is expanding its team. they are looking for bold, mission-driven professionals ready to empower the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians. Her Innovation Cameroon (HIC) is a dynamic, apolitical, nonprofit organization committed to empowering women and girls across Cameroon through STEM education, advocacy, and leadership development.
The Communications Officer is HIC’s primary communications lead managing all branding, media relations, social media, storytelling, advocacy campaigns, volunteer coordination, and policy engagement. The role builds and protects HIC’s reputation while amplifying its impact nationally and internationally.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement HIC’s annual communications and advocacy strategy.
- Manage all social media accounts by planning, creating, and scheduling content monthly.
- Write and distribute press releases for all major HIC events and milestones.
- Produce HIC’s bi-annual Impact Report and annual STEM policy briefs.
- Lead all advocacy campaigns that is, STEM inclusion, gender equity, 16 Days of Activism.
- Manage HIC’s brand identity and ensure all materials comply with the Brand Style Guide.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Development Studies.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, advocacy, or public affairs.
- Strong portfolio of written communications such as reports, press releases, policy briefs.
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts and campaigns.
- Experience in gender equality or STEM advocacy is a strong advantage.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Exceptional bilingual written and verbal communication (English and French).
- Creative storytelling and content creation skills.
- Media relations and crisis communication competency.
- Digital marketing and social media management expertise.
- Strategic thinking and policy engagement ability.
