CHRDA distributes over 500 reusable facemasks in Bamenda-Cameroon, fight against the spread of COVID-19

since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which has got more than four million persons infected and claimed the lives of close to three hundred thousand persons globally, Civil Society Organizations have been doing a tremendous job in providing community services in Cameroon. CHRDA, Human Rights NGO on the 9of May 2020 distributed over 500 reusable facemasks in Bamenda-Northwest Region. The recent one is from the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA) in partnership with other Civil Society Organizations, including AYOSA, Rural Doctors, Colors of Roses Foundation, CamDocUK, etc. which saw the donation of hand wash buckets and soaps to the population of Bamenda was a great support. According to details from their website, their targeted groups are the vulnerable population including refugees, IDPs, returnees, the disabled, and women.
It is worthy to note that the Human Rights NGO of Barrister Agbor Balla has not only been involved in the humanitarian response to the outbreak of coronavirus, but they have also been involved in advocacy for the respect of human rights during the period of quarantine as a measure to combat the spread of COVID-19. They have also advocated for the government of Cameroon to released prisoners or decongest prisons to serve prisoners from contacting the pandemic in overcrowded prisons
Providing the vulnerable community with these humanitarian services during this catastrophic crisis of our time is in a bit protecting the rights to life and good health which are fundamental human rights. Human Rights and Legal Research Centre applaud the contributions by the Civil Society Organizations in fighting against the spread of the COVID-19 across the globe.
