Cameroon: A child burnt alive in Batibo, the armed conflict hit Northwest region

Cameroon National Youth Day, which was supposed to be celebrated on 11 January 2021 but was proponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has been marked by the gruesome murder of a child in Batibo. The armed conflict, which has lasted for four years now, has been described as one of the most neglected armed conflict in the world.
The incident today 11 February 2021 is coming to add to the suffering and pain, which has continuously been inflicted on civilians since 2016. The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa reported last year that the state security forces have burnt at least 250 villages.
At the time of this report, HRLRC cannot independently states who committed the crime. Mimi Mefo Info and other Cameroon news channels are reporting that the crime was allegedly committed by Cameroon Military Force. We are still to verify the perpetrators of the gruesome act against a five year old child. HRLRC is encouraging both parties to the war to cease from committing human rights violations and seek for peaceful resolution to the four year old armed conflict.
