The Opportunity:

As the Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for providing financial and operational support for the smooth running of the project by facilitating timely request of funds. You will also be charged with performing general accounting functions like: encoding of transactions in Plan International integrated software (SAP), cash payments to staff and third parties (maintenance of subsidiary accounting records, preparation of financial reports and provision of assistance on other accounting related functions).

Under the supervision of the Acting Finance Coordinator/Project Coordinator, you will have to perform the following activities: Cash disbursement and journals, cash receipts from donors and the International Hub, accurate and systematic filling of documents and online payment or cash if necessary.

The Individual/About You:

Within your role, it is imperative also that you uphold honesty, encourage openness and transparency and also build trust and confidence.

To best meet up with your objectives, the below will be of key value to you:

1.    Hold at minimum a Higher National Diploma (abbreviated “BTS” in French) in Accounting, Finance, Management or Economics;

2.  Have basic working experience in the said field – preferably in an international non-governmental organization – will be an advantage;

3.  Accounting experience in data entry;

4.  Knowledge of local finance and taxation systems and laws for enhanced compliance;

5.  Accurate computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet);

6.    Demonstrate proficiency in English language and also the local language (Pidgin) spoken across the Northwest-Southwest regions, with a strong understanding of the emergency context of these regions;
