In a gesture that is worth christening empowering future generations, Mr. Cleatine Asongwe has donated school materials to some school children in Bonaberi. He successfully provided these school materials to over 100 underprivileged pupils in Bonaberi, Douala IV of the Litoral Region of Cameroon.

Bonaberi hosts thousands of Internally Displaced Persons from the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon. An armed conflict has been ongoing in these regions since 2016. This has led to targeted attacks, such as killings, kidnappings, and arbitrary arrest and detention, resulting in forceful displacement to neighboring towns including Douala.

This heartwarming initiative by Mr Cleatine Asongwe to the community of Bonaberi in Douoala IV is timely as many children are stranded in local communities without access to proper education as a result of limited resources. The event took place on 28 September 2024 at the Chefferie Hall at Grand Baobab, Douala IV in Bonaberi where Excited children and their families gathered there to receive essential educational supplies, such as school bags, backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other essential materials.

During the event, there were engaging activities, including educational games and motivational talks from local educators aimed at inspiring pupils present to strive for excellence in their studies. Community members, parents, and local leaders attended the event, demonstrating widespread support for the cause.

According to Mr. Cleatine Asongwe Dhin Kangue, who is a youth leader and elite from the Bonaberi, Douala IV. “We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and the materials that support their learning journey,”. while talking to HRLRC, he maintained that he was glad to see the smiles on the children’s faces as they received these supplies. He was grateful to friends and volunteers who made the initiative possible.

The good gesture was welcomed by community members as parents through their feedback commended the initiative. According to a parent, “This donation means so much to us. We often struggle to provide our children with basic school supplies, and this support lifts a huge burden off our shoulders,”

This initiative serves as a reminder of the power of community collaboration and the impact of kindness in transforming lives. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter future for our children.
