Insecurity Concern, Cameroon: Some residents of Bamenda III are protesting against the killing of a business by suspected armed separatists

Today 31 May 2021, some residents of Mbefi, a locality in Nkwen-Bamenda, the North West Region of Cameroon on guard by the military protested against what they called atrocious killings by armed separatists.

Sources indicate that the protest was because of the shooting of a businessman in the area. known as “Pa Peter”  who later died as a result of gunshot wounds at the Bamenda regional hospital. The deceased businessman was reportedly pulled out of his shop and shot by armed men believed to be separatist fighters.

During the March, while chanting “enough is enough”, they visited the Nkwen palace with branches of .trees to show their grievances with the traditional authorities

The Conflict which started in 2016 in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon have claimed at least 5000 lives and property loss resulting to economic and socioeconomic insecurity
